A woman, a traumatized victim of domestic violence and financial hardship, was forced to join three friends in robbing an old house. From the creators of Kodrat (2022). The story tells of a group of people who move into a seemingly abandoned village, only to discover that it is haunted by dark forces. As the characters unravel the village’s haunting history, they are confronted with their own fears and insecurities. The film succeeds in creating a tense and creepy atmosphere with strong visuals and gruesome sets that add to the horror. However, at times the plot can feel predictable and relies on familiar horror tropes rather than truly original scares. The pacing also fluctuates at certain points, lowering the tension. The performances are adequate, but the characters lack depth, making it difficult for audiences to form an emotional connection with them. Despite its flaws, Pemukiman Setan has its moments of tension and is good for traditional horror fans who enjoy the supernatural genre, though it may not stand out as a must-see for others.
